81-year-old man is sentenced on Thursday for shooting three

On Thursday, September 16, Paul Norman Jones, 81, will receive his sentence for murdering his neighbors in 2009.  Jones admitted in May of 2009 that he shot his neighbors Gerald and Linda Ingram, with a shotgun, in a property line dispute.   Jones then went across the street, shot and killed his 85-year-old neighbor Frank Barrett.  On Thursday, Jones could receive a sentence of 10 to 99 years or life in prison.  Jones will be sentenced at the Elmore County Judicial Complex in Wetumpka.  For the full story, click here.

  1. I was almost snarky and almost said that it really wouldnt matter if he got 10 years or life :-p

Snarking aside, though, it makes me sad to read about things like this. My cousin's great uncle shot himself the other day. He was 79. He had just come home from the doctor where he had learned he had terminal cancer. But still. It is just a very sad world we live in isn't it? :(
